Music
Dear Friend,
In 2021, the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust was commemorated worldwide. To mark this painful anniversary, together with composer Jievaras Jasinskis, we decided to create something new, original and meaningful. This is how the idea of "Symphony from Jerusalem of the North" was born. I believe that God’s will to honour the centenary of Jewish heritage in Lithuania has become a desire for our hearts as well and the creativity flowing from the Holy Spirit to write a script and to create music based on it has become a reality. I am grateful to God that He has united the highest-level of music professionals from Lithuania and Israel for this unique musical project. I also believe that on the occasion of the commemoration of the Genocide Day of Lithuanian Jews, it was the Lord who opened for us the gates of the courtyard of the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania, where the premiere of this masterpiece took place. For me, this is a great miracle and these special moments will always remain in my heart. The capital of Lithuania was once home to a large Jewish community, which is why Vilnius is called “Jerusalem of the North”. While creating this project we tried to reveal how the history of Lithuanians and Jews is closely intertwined, so we allowed ourselves to experiment by combining classical music with folklore motifs from both nations. When you attend a concert or listen to the CD, forget all your worries and immerse yourself in a musical journey that will take you to the most important moments of the history of Israel and Lithuania. There is a brief description to each part of the symphony that enables you to take a journey back in time in your imagination. Let the majestic sounds of the shofar take you to the Jerusalem of King David’s time, and let the chords of kanklės (i.e. ancient Lithuanian harp) and the melodies of the birbynė (i.e. ancient Lithuanian wind instrument) light your path as you travel through the pages of Lithuanian history. Let the Spirit of God reveal to you through music the secrets that have been covered with the dust of history, and let the melodies and rhythms of the “Symphony from Jerusalem of the North” decode the Truth that is written deep in your heart.
